Good afternoon fencers and parents! Just a heads up that when students come to room 6 tomorrow afternoon for fencing practice, we will be discussing the Ellis Fencing Code of Conduct. In order for your child to participate, they must sign the Code of Conduct. This represents a contract between the fencer, coach, and parent to adhere to general rules that must be observed for the safety of the fencers. In addition, I will be sending home a couple other forms this week that I will need to have signed, including a liability waver and medical release form (both of which are standard for any school sport and are the same forms Coach Lesley uses). Attached to this post is the Code of Conduct. If you have time, please review this with your child. We will also go over it in more detail tomorrow. Lastly, please remember that it is extremely likely we will have to break the group up into classes. I do not know how many students plan on attending tomorrow, so I will have more information during pick up at 5pm.
Thanks to everyone who was able to attend last week's informational meeting. For those unable to attend, a summary of the meeting will follow at the end of this post.
Our first meeting will take place after school on October 17. During dismissal, fencers should report to room 6 (Ms. Natalie's class) to sign in. Please send your child with appropriate attire (workout clothes and gym shoes). We will be meeting from 3-5pm. If you need to pick your child up before 5pm, please go through the Battey Street entrance (Pryme Tyme). Otherwise, I will dismiss all fencers at the front. There will be a sign-out sheet, so please make sure to check with me before you leave! Finally, for the first few meetings, I would like to see both beginning and returning fencers attend so that I can work out groups if we need to have separate classes. All fencers should attend our sessions on October 17, 19, and 24. After the 24th, I will make a decision about multiple classes. At the moment, I am leaning towards having veteran fencer classes on Tuesdays and beginner classes on Thursdays. Meeting Summary:
If you have any questions, or if I missed anything from the meeting, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or leave a reply to this post. |
